Manual Osteopathy Therapy
Diagnose, treat and prevent health problems as well as eliminate pain by moving, stretching and massaging the body.
What is Manual Osteopathy?
The Manual Osteopathic College of Canada describes it as: the use of hands-on skills for investigation and treatment of body dysfunctions. The whole body is examined and mechanical disruptions are treated whether symptoms exist or not. Simply put, let’s say you have right shoulder pain – expect the Manual Osteopathic Therapist to examine the joint and soft tissue around the shoulder and also:
Imbalances found are gently treated with techniques that engage the dysfunctional tissue until function is normalized. Joints are mobilized by muscle-resisted techniques, soft-tissue is restored to healthier states. Fluids are released from congested areas and gently flushed in the direction of drainage. Changes are often felt immediately or shortly after the treatment.
Manual Osteopathic Therapy is a gentle therapy that’s appropriate and safe for all ages. The practitioner uses different techniques to work with the body to connect to it’s innate ability to return to balance and alignment.
Some common conditions that Manual Osteopathic Therapy can be beneficial for are:
- Spine and postural issues
- Headaches and Migraines
- Fertility and Menstrual issues.
- Post Covid Symptoms and Immune system health
- Digestion problems
- Repetitive strain injury, ex- tennis elbow, piriformis syndrome.

Is massage therapy safe while pregnant?
Yes, provided it’s performed by experienced registered massage therapists who are qualified to provide prenatal massage. It’s important to tell your therapist if you’re pregnant so that they’re able to give you an effective massage that’s safe for you and your baby.
What can I expect at a prenatal massage?
The Centre Spa offers the best prenatal massage in Calgary. Our clinic is equipped with belly tables that enable you to lay face-down and receive a safe, comfortable massage that doesn’t feel like a typical prenatal massage.
Our registered massage therapists have the necessary knowledge and experience to provide you with an effective, nurturing massage that quells the typical aches, pains, and discomfort most commonly associated with pregnancy.
Do I need to disrobe for my massage?
You can disrobe to your comfort level for your massage but most clients prefer to disrobe to their undergarments.
Can I request a female/male therapist?
Yes, we understand that your religion, culture or comfort level may not allow for a massage from the opposite sex. If you prefer a female or male massage therapist, please let us know at the time of booking.
What education do your massage therapists have?
All massage therapists at The Centre Spa are registered and have completed a minimum of 2,200 hours of hands-on training. Some therapists have been with us for more than a decade.
What spa and esthetic services do you offer?
In addition to massage, The Centre Spa provides various additional services. That includes:
- Body wraps
- Lash extensions
- Lash and brow tinting
