The first and still the best Prenatal Massage & Spa in Calgary!!
History:
The Centre for Family Well Being began in 1994, it was originally on the maternity floor of the Peter Lougheed Hospital. It was the first private 'in-hospital' massage clinic specializing in pregnancy massage. Created by three dedicated massage therapists, The Centre fulfilled their vision to support pregnant women and their partners with education about the experience of nurturing touch. Two years of negotiation with the hospital board allowed ample time for education and research into the art of pregnancy massage. Soon after starting the clinic the need to expand into the fields of postpartum body work and birth support became apparent. Training was sought in both fields and the clinic was the first of its kind to extend professional birth support and body work to the families in Calgary.
Information gained through daily work with pregnant couples, was shared in the form of workshops, introductory classes for pregnant couples. The owners showed up voluntarily in prenatal classes, pain options classes, doula training classes, and anywhere people were interested in applying the art of nurturing touch to the area of pregnancy, postpartum and birth support. They soon became educators, teaching their techniques and certifying a broad spectrum of professionals from all over Canada and the United States.
Over the years, changes have come to the Centre for Family Well Being, but always working towards fufilling the vision of its founders.
